Covid 19

The ReadiBus service was available throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, including during the three lockdowns for journeys such as for vaccination appointments, for shopping; for respite; for going to a doctor surgery; for a hospital appointment; or for any other reason.

Over 70,000 safe essential journeys were made on ReadiBus from the start of the first lockdown in March 2020 to November 2021, including over 2,000 journeys during that first lockdown in 2020.

We continue to maintain intensive cleaning regimes and procedures with a view to making the travelling environment as safe as possible. You may wish to consider wearing a face covering if you are able to whilst travelling. Please do not travel if you are displaying symptoms of being unwell or if you are living in a household where someone is displaying symptoms of being unwell.

We received some very good feedback on our service during the Covid-19 pandemic from organisations including the RBH and Macmillan. If you would like to read more about this, click here to read the article on Reading Voluntary Action’s website.

ReadiBus was also judged in the ‘Community Transport Provider of the Year’ category at the Community Transport Awards in November 2021 as one of the top three community transport services in the UK for its service provision during the pandemic, and the best in England. You can read the full story here
