Positive Images Campaign

The ReadiBus Positive Images Campaign, launched in Broad Street on 6th June 2016 by the Rt Worshipful Mayor of Reading, Cllr Mohammed Ayub, is in response to a need identified as the single most wanted action to tackle poverty amongst those who identified as ‘disabled’ at the Reading Borough Council ‘Tackling Poverty’ event in November 2013 - and that was the need for more positive images of 'disabled people'. ReadiBus subsequently consulted on how it could help to address this need and came up with the idea for a 'Positive Images' Campaign.

The large vinyl images on the backs of the ReadiBuses seek to positively portray 'disabled' people in designs created and sponsored by Kreatif Design of Three Mile Cross and photographers Barrett & Coe Berkshire. The campaign is on-going and buses continue to display these positive images into every nook and cranny of Reading.

If the campaign can help, in however small a way, to counter negative stereotypes of ‘disabled people’, then it will be a success in terms of helping to address the need that was identified.

If you have positive images that you would like to share, do contact us.
